Senior Associate, Quantitative Research and Strategy

Alex Becker is a Senior Associate of Quantitative Research and Strategy at RA Capital Management. Alex’s primary responsibility is to develop and support quantitative analyses that support investment decisions and improve core processes throughout the firm. Prior to RA Capital, Alex was an assistant professor at Boston University, where he taught courses in econometrics, portfolio management, and Python and machine learning applications in finance. Alex’s research in empirical corporate finance focused on how constraints like debt covenants and political risk shape a firm’s behavior. In his dissertation, Alex explored systemic risk in banking networks. Alex holds a PhD in Physics from Boston University and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Alex is also a CFA charterholder.
