Brent Sanders

Chief Information Officer

Brent Sanders is the Chief Information Officer at RA Capital Management. Brent’s primary responsibility is to oversee the firm’s information technology program, including operations, development, security, and AI capabilities. Brent has over two decades of experience building and leading high-performing technology organizations across diverse industries. Prior to RA Capital, Brent led a comprehensive, 5+ year ground-up build of the IT, data, and cybersecurity organization at Flagship Pioneering. Brent established the team and technical capabilities that supported over 1000 scientists, entrepreneurs, and business professionals across Flagship’s capital formation, company origination, and operations functions. Brent’s remit also encompassed the technical strategies for Pioneering Medicines, Pioneering Intelligence, and more than 25 early-stage biotechnology platform companies located in Boston, Singapore, the UK, and the Czech Republic. Earlier in his career, Brent was instrumental in a global organizational and technology turnaround at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), where he partnered with the CIO to implement effective strategies for budget, demand, portfolio prioritization, and project management. These efforts resulted in significant improvements in internal credibility, staff engagement, project delivery timelines, infrastructure stability, financial predictability, and project success rates. Brent’s experience also includes building and leading technology and operational teams within Financial Services at Fidelity Investments, Technology & Software at Netscape Communications, and Global Pharmaceutical R&D at AstraZeneca. Brent holds a BS in Economics and International Studies at the University of Dallas in Irving, TX.
