Cassie Bryan, PhD
Director, ML Protein Design

Cassie Bryan is the Director of ML Protein Design at Raven. Cassie’s primary responsibility is to lead the generation of protein-based solutions across a range of application areas. Prior to Raven, Cassie was part of the technical staff in the Synthetic Biology group at Draper where she led and contributed to several cross-disciplinary programs centered around protein engineering, bioinformatics, viral diagnostics, and pathogen detection. Cassie’s background spans computational protein design, biochemistry, and protein engineering. During her graduate work in David Baker’s lab she developed a de novo hyperstable miniprotein that specifically binds to the inhibitory T cell receptor PD1. Continuing in her postdoc, Cassie was able to combine that modular PD1 binding domain with designed protein oligomeric scaffolds to create the first synthetic PD1 agonist that could be developed as an autoimmune therapeutic. Cassie holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Washington.
